About the Recipe
Hachis Parmentier is a classic French comfort dish, similar to a shepherd's pie. It layers flavourful minced meat and creamy mashed potatoes, topped with cheese and baked to golden perfection. Perfect for cozy family dinners or a hearty meal any time.

Ingredients
400 g minced meat
300 g mashed potatoes
2 onions, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 fresh or canned tomatoes, diced
1 tbsp flour
30 g butter
50 g grated cheese (such as Gruyère)
30 g Parmesan, grated
1 egg yolk
1 pinch of herbes de Provence
Salt and pepper, to taste
Preparation
Method
Prepare the Filling:
In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onions and garlic until soft.
Add the minced meat and cook until browned. Stir in the diced tomatoes, flour, salt, pepper, and herbes de Provence. Simmer until the mixture thickens slightly.
Add Flavor:
Remove the pan from the heat and mix in the egg yolk and Parmesan. Combine well.
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
Assemble the Dish:
Spread the meat mixture evenly in the bottom of a baking dish.
Layer the mashed potatoes over the meat and smooth the surface.
Add the Topping:
Sprinkle the grated cheese over the top.
Bake and Serve:
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling. Serve hot.
